To pay homage to this incredible ship, a replica of Lady Washington was commissioned on March 7, 1989, after thorough research by historians. The construction was done according to the post-Macau refit configuration, by Grays Harbor Historical Seaport in Aberdeen, Washington.

In true Lady Washington fashion, the full-scale replica made its own history when it launched just in time for the 1989 Washington State Centennial celebration. Today, the new Lady Washington is a U.S. Coast Guard-inspected, certified passenger sailing vessel. She also sails with the Hawaiian Chieftain and teaches students about the history of merchant trading, common sailors and the responsibilities of her officers.
