Historical Seaport turns new mast for the replica of the Niña
The British Virgin Islands-based Niña, a replica of one of the ships that carried Christopher Columbus to the New World, needed a new 29-foot mast after a fire near Baton Rouge, La. The vessel’s owner contacted the Historical Seaport, which operates North America’s largest lathe at our facility in Aberdeen, Wash. He needed a quick turnaround so that he could continue his winter activities along the Gulf Coast. We won the contract, found a suitable log at a local yard, and turned out the new mast in less than a week. To read more about this project and view photos, see the Aberdeen Daily World article about our success. More article links are available at our In the News page at our website.
