Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain return to Grays Harbor

The Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain return to their respective home ports of Aberdeen and Westport on June 9 to welcome Grays Harbor visitors and residents to public tours and sailings. Dockside tours and Battle Sails are scheduled for June 13, 15, 20, and 21. For a detailed schedule, visit our Sailing Schedule page. The ships will also bend on new sails purchased through the Historical Seaport's successful "Raise the Sails" campaign. We're just $3,000 short of our goal of $98,000, and we need you to help with one last "Two, Six, HEAVE!" Please donate today.

Grays Harbor County youth invited to sail on San Juans Islands adventure
|
Twenty-five at-risk and underserved Grays Harbor County young people will sail to the San Juan Islands thanks to a grant from the American Sail Training Association and the U.S. Department of Justice. Youth aged 13 to 16 are encouraged to apply now for the 12-day sailing adventure in August. You'll learn how to sail a real tall ship and explore the natural beauty of Puget Sound. Downloadable applications are available at the Historical Seaport website or by calling 800-200-5239. The deadline for applications is June 23, 2008.

Hawaiian Chieftain to celebrate 20 years of changing people’s lives

On June 12, join us as we celebrate Hawaiian Chieftain’s 20th birthday with a huge party in Westport. Join us for dinner, music, fabulous door prizes, one-of-a-kind auction items, and some special surprises. Guests will include the ship's architect, original owner, builders, and past crew. Shantyman Hank Cramer gives benefit concert for Youth Adventure Program
|
|
Renowned shantyman Hank Cramer and his band Constellation's Crew will give a benefit concert for the Historical Seaport's Youth Adventure Program June 14 in Aberdeen. Join the crews and supporters of our tall ships for a rousing evening of maritime music at the Aberdeen High School Auditorium from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is by donation, suggested at $10 for adults, $5 for students.

Ride along on an exciting tall ships race from Port Angeles to Port Townsend July 1
The Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain will team up with other tall ships, including the privateer Lynx and the replica of the Niña, for an exclusive square riggers' race July 1, and you're invited to join the action! We'll race from Port Angeles to Port Townsend on our way to the Tall Ships Tacoma event. Join us for thrilling adventures, complete with a family-style lunch and dinner. You'll board your ship at 10 a.m. at Port Angeles' City Pier and debark at the Northwest Maritime Center's Port Townsend dock at approximately 6 p.m. the same day. Tickets are $150. Shipboard Sea Shanty Camp with Hank Cramer and friends July 2
Sign aboard in Port Townsend for a unique musical education experience. Hank Cramer has been running shore based Sea Shanty Camps for a few years now, but this will be the first aboard a ship, underway. Hear and sing the music as it was used, to help the crew haul away together! We'll cruise to Seattle where we will set sail for a parade down the Seattle waterfront. We'll end the voyage in song as we sail into the fleet anchorage in Quartermaster Harbor on Vashon Island. You'll board at 7 a.m. in Port Townsend and debark in Quartermaster Harbor at approximately 6 p.m. Transport to the Vashon Island ferry will be provided. Call 800-200-5239 for reservations. Tickets are $145.

The Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain continue their ambassadorial and educational missions in June and July with trips to
the Tall Ships Challenge® events in Victoria, B.C. June 26-30, Tacoma July 3-7, and Port Alberni, B.C. July 10-12. The stops include public walk-on tours and a special event in Tacoma for members of the Historial Seaport's Bulfinch Society. Expedition Voyages summer camps for teens and adults now taking reservations for August
The Expedition Voyages summer camp program features five-day youth and family sailing adventures in the San Juan Islands in August. Make your reservations now for these exceptional programs. You'll learn to handle a real tall ship and camp on the shores of Washington State's most beautiful inland waterways. The Family Expedition Voyage summer camp is scheduled for August 4-8.
